Welcome to Paws for Effect, a one-to-one dog and cat grooming salon based on a farm just outside Burbage, Wiltshire.

At Paws for Effect your pet’s wellbeing is prioritised above all else. I groom one pet at a time and tailor each groom to your requests and the animal themselves, both in terms of their physical characteristics and the condition of their coat, and – just as important – their history, temperament, and behaviour.

DOGS

I specialise in practical, realistic grooms for normal dogs who get muddy, roll in unpleasant things, and perhaps don’t get brushed as much at home as would be ideal…! All grooms are carried out with your dog’s comfort and welfare in mind. It is unusual for a dog to truly ‘enjoy’ being groomed, but it should certainly never be a stressful or unpleasant experience for them.

I can accommodate anxious and fearful dogs – please get in touch to discuss your circumstances. It can take time to build up trust, especially if a dog has had a bad experience with a previous groomer; I can promise that your dog will be treated with the patience, respect and kindness that we all deserve.

I groom Chihuahuas, Great Danes, and everything in between. I am more than happy to groom large and / or boisterous dogs.

CATS

Most of my cat clients just need a good brush / comb, but I offer bathing and trimming or clipping if appropriate. Home visits can be arranged for cat grooming, subject to distance and availability – please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

THE SALON

The salon is fairly small, perfectly sized for one dog or cat and one groomer. I do not have crates, kennels or any kind of holding area, so I operate on a “one in, one out” basis. I can accommodate up to three dogs from the same household simultaneously, as long as they are happy to relax in the room – with a bed provided – while their family members are being groomed.

The salon is clean, well-ventilated, warm in the winter and air-conditioned in the summer, and all of my grooming equipment is regularly sharpened / serviced / maintained as appropriate. I only use professional grade shampoos and other products. The salon and pets under my care are covered by business insurance, and the door is always locked when I have unsecured animals with me.
